PutcheseLF project joins the "Island of the 90s"

On September 20, the festival “Island of the 90s” will host a presentation of an interactive documentary project of a patchelf, dedicated to personal memories of the August coup of 1991.

The presentation of the patchelf will take place at 12:30 in the tent of the Yeltsin Center.

The project was created by directors Margarita Novikova and Elena Mikhailovskaya. In 2012, they presented the documentary of the same name, which was based on 40 personal memories of three days in August 1991, recorded in the year of the 20th anniversary of the coup. The creators of the film called him "an attempt to study human memory on the example of an important historical event, emotionally affected almost everyone who was related to the USSR."

“The experience of August 1991, which is about in the film, is not dead, it is still relevant, so I would not want to call it a monument to August 1991,” the directors say.

In an interactive web project, the patchelf is collected archival documents-memories, photographs, scans of documents located in the corresponding sections of the Putschyourself.org website. In addition, the materials can be viewed using an interactive map on which the places where the authors of the memoirs live are indicated, and interviews with the heroes of the project are posted on its YouTube channel .

Option "Your Putic?" Allows the user of the site to upload his own video to the archive with a story about how he remembers August 19–21, 1991.

The authors of the project have the creation of an online video editor, with the help of which the one who has entered the site will be able to collect from the prepared excerpts of memories, his own memories, video and photo chronicle their own mini-films, that is, their own documentation of the experience of August 1991.
