Poroshenko excluded European media journalists from the sanctions list

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on the exclusion of journalists of some European media from the sanctions list. The text of the decree is published on the Poroshenko website.

On September 16, Ukraine has unveiled a sanctions list, which, along with Russian statesmen and journalists, also came from journalists from other foreign countries. In particular, the BBC employees were on the “black” list, which caused the indignation of the leadership of the corporation.

On September 17, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine stated that Steve Rosenberg, Anton Chicherov and Emma Wells, employees of the Spanish newspaper El Pais Manuel Angel Sastra and Antonio Pamplinga, as well as the German newspapers Die Zeit and Frankfurter will be excluded from the list. The list remains the names of other foreign journalists, including EU citizens. They will be forbidden to enter Ukraine.

The National Security and Defense Council explained that they included in the sanctions list of those journalists who “contributed to terrorist manifestations” in Ukraine, disinformed the public about events in the occupied territories of the country or illegally crossed the Ukrainian border to penetrate the occupied territory.
