Lithuania’s basketball players defeated the Serbia team in the semifinals of the European Championship and reached the tournament finals, earning at the same time a direct ticket to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The meeting held in French Lille ended with a score of 67:64 (22:17, 13:17, 13: 9, 19:21) in favor of the Lithuanians. The most productive player in the winners was Jonas Valanchunas, who scored 15 points, 3 points were added to Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Renaldas Sebutis.

“Before the 2013 Eurobasket, on which we reached the final, everyone said that Lithuania has good players, but there is no team. After the World Cup, where we played in the semifinals, this result was explained by the playoffs with a light grid. I don’t even know how they will explain our current success,” the head coach of the Lithuanian Kazlauskas team quoted the official website of the tournament.

In the decisive match of the tournament, the Lithuanians will die with the Spanish national team, and the Serbs will converge with the French in the bronze match for bronze. Both games will be held on Sunday.
