Gaiser did not plead guilty and arrested

The head of the Republic of Komi Vyacheslav Gaiser, accused of organizing a criminal community and fraud, was arrested for two months by decision of the Basmanny Court of Moscow. He did not plead guilty, asked to limit himself to house arrest, stated that he was interested in establishing truth, and he collaborates with the investigation. Also, the deputy chairman of the Government of Komi Romodanov, another person involved in the case of a criminal community, did not admit his guilt. His court also arrested until November 18.

"Since I am most interested in establishing the truth and restoring a good name, I do not interfere with the investigation and ask for house arrest," Gaiser said. His defender also noted that "if we objectively consider the circumstances of this case, it will become clear that the head of the republic" to the transactions that are discussed in the prosecution, TASS reports. According to the lawyer, his client does not refuse to testify, collaborates with the investigation. He recalled that Gaiser answered all the investigation questions, showed safe and provided the keys to them. According to the investigation, a collection of watches was found in his office, one copy of which costs about $ 1 million, and in the safe - documents for offshore and the project of buying two aircraft.

At the same time, the investigator stated in court about the absence of grounds for electing a softer preventive measure to Gaiser. According to him, the involvement of the accused in the incriminated crimes is confirmed by the testimony of witnesses, as well as other materials. And being free, he can "hide from the investigation, threaten witnesses, destroy evidence, and also in other ways to prevent the investigation." According to media reports, the Gaiser on vacation was detained in Moscow before departure abroad.

Judge Arthur Karpov eventually listened to the arguments of the investigation and arrested Gaiser for two months - until November 18, TASS reports. The governor’s lawyer promised to appeal the decision, indicating that the court did not take into account the state of health of the accused: he needs daily intake of the pills and supervision of the doctor, in the pre -trial detention center it may become worse.

A criminal case against 19 people, including the head of the Komi and his deputy, was instituted on September 18 under Art. 210 ("criminal community") and 159 ("fraud") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The FSB and SK, as the representative of the IC Vladimir Markin emphasized, stopped the activities of the criminal community under the leadership of Gaiser, the actions of which, according to the investigation, were aimed at taking possession of state property.
