September 22 at 19:00 - seminar "State terror in the USSR. Sources and methods of study "

Alan Blum, a professor at the Higher School of Social Research (Paris) and the Center for the Franco-Russian Research (Moscow), will make a report “Sources for studying deportations from the western territories of the USSR. Documents of repressive bodies, oral certificates, biographical materials. ”

The film about the tragic fate of actor Dmitry Konovsky, arrested on the night of December 2 to 3, 1934.

Dmitry Konsovsky lived a short life, but managed to put up a performance at the Vakhtangov Theater, to star in eleven films, many of which were included in the Golden Fund of Soviet Cinematography (“Deserter” of Vsevolod Pudovkin, “The Earth is craving” Julia Raizman, “Rybakov’s uprising” Erwin Piscator). His brother, artist Aleksey Konsovsky (Prince in Cinderella, Lermontov in Lermontov, a wizard from an ordinary miracle), could not achieve permission to get acquainted with his brother’s investigative affairs, did not find out what his last words were. Now, seventy years later, the grandson of Alexei Konovsky, Nikolai Vershinin-Konsovsky, tells about all dramatic events.

The first lecture this year will be given to Lev Gudkov, director of the Levada Center. Expert discussions will be held once a month on a wide range of problems with the participation of leading experts, journalists, politicians.

In our time, a Russian citizen arrives in the city of Polish in the Western of Poland, who once in the 60s of the 20th century served here, and whose wife was buried in the "Soviet part" of the local city cemetery. He wants to pay for the burial here for another 20 years. Following him, his daughter, who hates his mother, comes to the legend, but how two drops of water look like her. She cannot forgive her mother that she committed suicide because of his love for the Pole, leaving her, the infantry-the fruit of this love-in the arms of her husband, to whom she changed.
