Engineer Kravtsov was sentenced to 14 years of maximum security

Judge of the Moscow City Court Nikolai Tkachuk sentenced the former Grustean radio engineer Gennady Kravtsov to 14 years of maximum regime for sending a resume to the radio engineering center of Sweden. This was reported by RAPSI. Tkachuk found the defendant guilty under Article 275 of the Criminal Code (state treason).

As an additional punishment, Kravtsov was deprived of the military rank of lieutenant colonel.

In the debate of the parties, the prosecutor requested a strict regime for the defendant of 15 years.

The engineer himself did not admit his guilt .

The Petersburger Kravtsov worked for 15 years in the GRU, quit from there in 2005. He had a certificate of secret information, however, it can be assumed that the latest period of their secrecy has expired by 2011. In any case, that year the engineer received a passport and since then has repeatedly traveled abroad.

A year earlier, in 2010, Kravtsov sent a resume to Sweden by e-mail, describing his work experience and skills. According to Kommersant, he indicated in this documentthe position that he held in the special service , and also said "on the combat application of one of the spacecraft."

At the end of the judicial investigation, the engineer’s lawyer Ivan Pavlov specified in his blog in Open Russia that it was about the Zelendin-2 apparatus, which has not been operated for many years at the time of sending the resume.

Nevertheless, the examination conducted by the investigation insisted that secret information was present in the resume. Pavlov called the conclusions of the study "attracted by the ears." “In addition,” he noted, “among the experts there are former colleagues Kravtsov, which does not give the document of objectivity.”

At the same time, receipt of monetary rewards for the allegedly communicated secret information was imputed by the engineer.

In 2013, the security forces detained Kravtsov and held a search at his house. Nevertheless, after that he was released. However, a year later, the engineer was detained again and on May 27, 2014 was arrested. The first information about the arrest of Kravtsov and his casehit the media only in February 2015 .

Initially, Kravtsov gave a confession. However, after the history of the engineer received publicity, he refused both these testimonies and the services of the lawyer Andrei Stebenev provided by the investigation. Since then, the interests of the accused have been represented by Pavlov and his colleague for NPOs "Team 29" Alexander Ivanov.

Kravtsov’s case has a “secret” vulture. For this reason, the proceedings on the merits, which began on August 25, took place closed.

The lawyers of the defendant, both during the preliminary hearings in July - August and during the trial, filed more than 20 petitions, including the exclusion of unacceptable evidence, Kravtsov’s study on the polygraph, the request of departmental documents of the GRU, or at least extracts from them. However, Tkachuk did not satisfy any of these petitions.
