The founder of the anonymous 4chan imageboard, Christopher Poole, has sold the site . The buyer was the owner of the Japanese resource 2channel, which at one time inspired Poole to create 4chan . What is the amount of the transaction is unknown.

Individual 4chan users opposed the sale of the resource. They accused Nishimura Hiroyuki, who founded 2channel, of selling data to intelligence agencies.
