The sports ground management company has new co-owners

The company Hockey Club (HC) Dynamo St. Petersburg LLC acquired a 50% stake in the management company of the Yubileiny sports complex. The remaining 50% in the Yubileiny management company remains with the city administration.

As the Vedomosti newspaper reports with reference to SPARK-Interfax, the company was registered in August of this year (owners are Sergey Cherkas and Natalya Skarlygina). Skarlygina is the president of the Dynamo St. Petersburg hockey club, and Cherkas is its general director, as follows from the information on the club’s website. Cherkas is also a former coach of the hockey team SKA, whose president is Gennady Timchenko, and whose vice president for marketing is Arkady Rotenberg’s son Roman.

The revenue of SK Yubileiny LLC for 2014 was 134 million rubles, net profit was 4 million rubles.

The Yubileiny Sports Palace itself belongs to KUGI and is used free of charge by the Yubileiny Sports Complex. The Federation of Trade Unions of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region was previously a co-owner of the management company. According to its head Vladimir Derbin, in 2013 the federation transferred its 40% share of the Yubileiny real estate to the city administration, and now it has sold 50% in the management company. Before the upcoming World Hockey Championship (2016), the site needs investments that the trade unions do not have, Derbin explained to the publication his exit from the asset. Neither he nor Cherkas disclose the amount of the transaction.

“This purchase is our common initiative with Skarlygina, we are independent investors,” Cherkas told Vedomosti and added that there are no plans to buy out the remaining share. “Dynamo,” according to him, is going to participate in the development of the arena, but Cherkas did not name the amount that the company is ready to invest. To finance the deal, he said, a loan was raised from SMP Bank (owned by brothers Arkady and Boris Rotenberg).

At the same time, a representative of the Rotenbergs told Vedomosti that LLC HC Dynamo St. Petersburg has no relation to the Rotenbergs and their structures.
