The Ukrainian government is considering introducing additional sanctions against Russian companies, according to a message on the official Twitter account of the Cabinet of Ministers

The Ukrainian government reported on its official Twitter account that the issue of introducing additional sanctions against companies from Russia is currently being considered.

“We are now making a decision to introduce additional sanctions against Russian companies. Details later,” the message says.

On September 16, President Poroshenko signed a decree expanding the anti-Russian sanctions list. It included 400 individuals and 90 companies, in particular Aeroflot, Almaz-Antey, Gazprombank, Kaspersky Lab, Channel One, NTV, Rossiya 24, Sibir and Orenburg Airlines.

The sanctions included the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu, State Duma deputy Joseph Kobzon, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, children's ombudsman Pavel Astakhov, head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, editor-in-chief of MIA Rossiya Segodnya Dmitry Kiselev and a number of other politicians, journalists and public figures.

Then Moscow unanswered decided to leave Kiev’s new sanctions . As Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko said, expanding the sanctions list by Kiev is a “frivolous and undignified” step and Moscow “will not stoop to retaliatory steps.”

Later, the head of the Kyiv Boryspil airport, Yevgeny Dykhne, clarified the terms of the sanctions against Russian airlines. He stated that the sanctions would only affect flights through Ukraine , but would not affect flights into the country, as well as transit flights.

The day before, the impact of Ukrainian sanctions was felt by the First Freight Company (FGC). At the request of Kyiv, Russian Railways introduced a ban on loading Freight One and its Ukrainian subsidiary wagons heading to Ukraine. As Reuters wrote , the reason for the ban was the appeal of the railway administration of Ukraine and the CIS Railway Transport Council, which followed the inclusion of Freight One and its subsidiary in the Ukrainian sanctions list. The ban applies to the loading of all cargo in the wagons of Freight One and its Ukrainian subsidiary, as well as the transportation of their empty wagons with “destination to all stations of Ukraine and transit through the territory of Ukraine.”

On September 21, Poroshenko stated that sanctions against Russia could be strengthened if Moscow “does not return to the implementation of the Minsk agreements.”
