The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation did not exclude the possibility of delivery from Israel to Moscow for new research in the case of the royal family of samples of the remains of Grand Duchess Elizabeth Fedorovna - sisters of the wife of Emperor Nicholas II Alexandra Fedorovna.
“We are negotiating with the Russian Orthodox Church. This is a very difficult question: international relations, delivery from another country. There is no final solution,” Interfax told Saturday, the senior investigator -criminalist of the Main Directorate of the Criminal Code of Russia Vladimir Soloviev.
“There are such thoughts. But now we will conduct the first research, discuss with the government, the Russian Orthodox Church, the public. And we will continue to decide whether to go further or not. Maybe we will have to stop at something. There should be a certain reasonable sufficiency,” the investigator said.
On the eve of Soloviev reported the beginning of the active stage of new genetic studies in the case of the death of a royal family. “Everything necessary is done. We have the genotypes of the father, mother, children. All studies will be carried out in Russia. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill asked everything from the“ clean leaf, ”the investigator said.
In the Investigative Committee, they hope that the new genetic examination in the case of the death of the royal family will be carried out as soon as possible, but it is not yet clear whether it will be completed until October 18. The date of October 18 was called the members of the working group of the Government of the Russian Federation to conduct a burial ceremony in St. Petersburg, the remains of Tsarevich Alexei and Princess Maria.
“We have set the shortest possible time. It will be difficult to meet or not - it’s hard to say, because the clothes of Emperor Alexander II, which was killed on March 1, 1881, has been taken as a model for comparative studies. I can’t determine the deadlines,” said the representative of the Investigative Committee.
The Russian Orthodox Church and some descendants of the Romanov believe that so far the authenticity of the remains of the royal family has not been proven, and expect that a new study will put a point in discussion. State experts are confident in the authenticity of the tsarist remains - both buried in the clan tomb of the Romanovs in St. Petersburg, and the remains of Tsarevich Alexei and Grand Duchess Maria stored in the State Archive of the Russian Federation.
The criminal case on the death of the royal family was instituted in 1993 in connection with the detection of group burial in the vicinity of Yekaterinburg. In 1998, after the remains were recognized as belonging to members of the royal family, the criminal case was terminated in connection with the death of the crime of persons.
In 2007, when fragments of the bones of the woman and the child were found near the burial place in Yekaterinburg, the investigation was resumed. Expertise found that the remains belong to Princess Maria and Alexei Nikolaevich. After that, a decision was again made to terminate the criminal case. At the same time, the remains remained in the State Archive of the Russian Federation
The execution of the royal family
Emperor Nicholas II and his family were shot in the summer of 1918 in the Ipatiev House in Yekaterinburg. The first investigation in this case was carried out by members of the Yekaterinburg District Court. They came to the conclusion that the royal family was at some point replaced by the family of doubles - the Filatovs.
However, the then employee of counterintelligence Nikolai Sokolov denied the version of doubles. Having visited the scene and interviewing the witnesses, he came to the conclusion that the corpses of the royal family members were taken to the tract of Ganin Yama, dismembered and burned with the help of kerosene.
In Ganina Yama there is an Orthodox monastery, and so far this place is revered as the place of the last rest of the murdered royal family. And on the site of the Ipatiev’s house, a temple-on-blood was built.
