The Ministry of Health supported the ban on the sale of alcohol to persons younger than 21 years

The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation "ardently supports" the proposal submitted to the State Duma to ban alcohol to persons under 21 years of age. This was announced by TASS by the head of the department Veronika Skvortsova, who takes participation in events in the UN headquarters in events through the World Health Organization (WHO). The organization in the report noted the success of Russia in the fight against cancer and diabetes.

Speaking about the support of the bill, the Minister of Skvortsova drew attention to the fact that in many countries of America and Europe, "childhood ends not at 18 years old, but at 21, when a person can more thoughtfully carry out his own actions, make decisions." “In our opinion, it will be better if we will save our youth for an additional three years,” she said.

The head of the Ministry of Health drew attention to the fact that over the past 100 years, determining the age limits of the stages of human life has constantly changed. “If, before the Great October Revolution, the border of childhood ended according to various sources at 9-11 years old, then in the Great Patriotic War - at 14 years old. Then it was 18 years old, and now the whole world understands that a person is growing and developing at least 25 years,” she recalled. Scientific studies have proven that at 21, a person "does not gain their full growth, not to mention the fact that the structure of the brain is not yet completely developing."

The bill, which increases from the age of 18 to 21, is the age of which alcohol and alcohol -containing products is allowed, Anton Belyakov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, introduced to the State Duma. The author of the initiative emphasized that according to the results of sociological and psychological research, "the 18-year-old teenager is not able to make a conscious decision on the issue of alcohol consumption."

The initiative was supported by the head of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children Elena Mizulina. She noted that the age restriction of the age of 21 was introduced in many countries of the world, since "after 21 years, a person makes more balanced decisions." “At an earlier age, he is simply not able to calculate to the end of the consequences of his actions,” she said. At the same time, she proposed to conduct a “wide public discussion of the topic of increasing age -related restrictions on the sale of alcohol” with the participation of parents, teachers, children's psychologists, the medical community and youth organizations.
