The Moscow Arbitration Court registered an appeal from Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant OJSC (ChMK), part of Igor Zyuzin ’s Mechel , against the decision to recover 6.76 billion rubles from him and four other structures of the metallurgical company in favor of Sberbank, RIA Novosti reported on Monday , September 28, citing court data.

According to the agency, the complaint, received by the court of first instance on September 25, will be transferred to the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal, which will set a date for its consideration.

In July, the Moscow Arbitration Court fully satisfied Sberbank's claim, collecting overdue debt on two loans. The defendants in the lawsuit are the borrower ChMK, as well as its guarantors - Mechel OAO, Mechel-Trans LLC, Bratsk Ferroalloy Plant LLC (BZF) and Mechel-Service LLC.

The court of first instance ordered the defendants to jointly and severally pay 5.1 billion rubles under the agreement dated October 13, 2010 and 1.6 billion rubles under the agreement dated October 19, 2013. At the moment, this is the largest lawsuit filed by Sberbank against Mechel.

On September 28, it became known that the Arbitration Court of the Irkutsk Region, following a claim by Sberbank, recovered more than 95 million rubles from Mechel and its subsidiary (BZF). Sberbank demanded to repay the overdue debt under the loan agreement dated October 2010 with the borrower BZF. The group's parent company acted as guarantor.

Sberbank is the third largest creditor of Mechel after Gazprombank and VTB , with which the company managed to agree on restructuring. On September 15, the head of Sberbank, German Gref, confirmed that the bank is in the process of difficult negotiations on restructuring Mechel’s debt.

Mechel is one of the world's leading companies in the mining and metallurgical industries. It includes more than 20 industrial enterprises - producers of coal, iron ore, steel, rolled products, ferroalloys, thermal and electrical energy. Mechel’s total debt, according to the company itself, as of September 1 was $6.313 billion.

Mechel challenged the recovery of 6.7 billion rubles in favor of Sberbank
