Levchenko received the greatest support in the regional center. There, in various areas, from 66.65 to 74.54 percent of the Irkutski voted for it. The turnout on the second round of the elections amounted to 35.5 percent. In the first round, she was at 29.1.

"United Russia" has already recognized the defeat of Eroshchenko. "Our party has done a lot to ensure that the elections in the regions go competitively, openly, legitimate," said Sergei Nevorov, Secretary of the General Council of the Party, Vice Speaker of the State Duma. Irkutsk region is the only region where the current governor did not win the elections on a single voting day on September 13. Eroshchenko became the leader of the first round. 49.6 percent of voters spoke for him, 36.61 for Levchenko.

In May, Eroshchenko, who had two years left before the end of powers, asked President Vladimir Putin to allow him to go to early elections . The president agreed and appointed Eroshchenko the acting governor.
