Transaero decided to go bankrupt

They decided to bankrupt the Transaero airline, according to sources for TASS, Gazeta.ru and RBC . According to the interlocutor of the agency, the bankruptcy was agreed upon at a meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

Transaero's debt is 250-260 billion rubles. Banks to which the company owes 85 billion rubles will have to recover money during bankruptcy proceedings.

In early September, the government decided that the company would come under the control of Aeroflot. Then it turned out that the terms for this deal had already passed (the owners failed to collect 75 percent of the shares from minority shareholders). The deal will not take place, RBC notes. Aeroflot refused to take on the debt burden.

In the coming month, Transaero passengers will be transported by Aeroflot. The government will give him money for this.
