The history of the Hotel "Metropol" was published

On October 5, a presentation of the book of architectural critic Nikolai Malinin “Metroopol” will be held at the Moscow Hotel Metropol Hotel. Moscow Legend ”, dedicated to the history of the famous monument to Art Nouveau, the 110th anniversary of which is celebrated this year.

The publication contains a large number of previously unpublished historical photographs from private collections, museums and archives. The author of the book, Nikolai Malinin is a Moscow architectural critic, journalist, curator of the Archwood Award.

In the presentation program, a tour of the halls and numbers of Metropol, which will be held by the historian of the hotel Ekaterina Egrov, a music performance, an exhibition of one evening of the unique work of Mikhail Vrubel from a private collection and a chamber concert of Lyudmila Petrushevskaya.

Metropol was built in 1899-1905 on the initiative of the philanthropist Savva Mamontov. The hotel building on Theater Square is an outstanding monument of the Moscow Art Nouveau, in the creation of which Villam Valkot, Lev Kekushev, Nikolai Shevyakov, Mikhail Vrubel, Nikolai Andreev and other architects, artists and sculptors took part in the creation.
