Vnesheconombank will become a shareholder of the Baikal Mountain Company (BGK, part of the Metalloinvest Alisher Usmanov), which masters the Udokan Copper Field, and also provide it with funds for the development of design documentation. This was stated by the head of the state corporation Vladimir Dmitriev, reports Interfax .
According to Dmitriev, we are talking about about 13 billion rubles. What a stake in the VEB will receive in the BGK, he did not specify.
At the end of September, the Vedomosti newspaper wrote that the VEB supervision council agreed to finance the project to master the udokan. However, then it was not known how much the corporation was ready to allocate for the project.
According to copper reserves, Udokan is the largest in Russia and the third deposit in the world. The license for the development of the Mikhailovsky GOK site, another “daughter” of Metalloinvest, received in 2008. Later, the operator of the project became the BGK. In September 2015, the Mikhailovsky GOK left the capital of the BGK, and the Metalloinvest consolidated 100% of its shares.
In early September, Kommersant, citing unnamed sources, wrote that, according to his own estimates, VEBU needs more than 1.3 million rubles of state support. Later, the publication, also with reference to sources, reported that the Ministry of Finance suggested that VEB have to place long -term currency bonds among large exporters and banks to receive the necessary funds.
