Russian gardeners 2.5 times increased prices for technical apples used in the production of juices, puree and cider. According to Kommersant, if last year the cost of 1 kilogram of industrial apples was 3.5 - 4.5 rubles, then this season it grew to 8.5 rubles, rising to 10 rubles per kilogram.
Despite the fact that the cost of production of apples did not change, an increase in costs for chemicals, equipment and delivery could affect the increase in prices. Also, according to experts surveyed by the publication, the product embargo, introduced by Russia, as a result of which domestic farmers reoriented from processors to the retail link could also affect the increase in prices.
Before the embargo, Poland provided half of the imports of apples. According to the publication, in 2013, this country delivered more than 705 thousand tons of apples of $ 389 million to Russia.
In mid -August, Russia expanded the food embargo to countries that supported sanctions against Russia. To the states of the European Union, Australia, Canada, Norway and the USA, of which in August 2014 the supply of certain types of agricultural products was prohibited, a number of countries were added, namely Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
The embargo for the supply of products from countries that adopted sanctions against Russia was introduced on August 7, 2014. On June 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the extension of the food embargo for a year.
On July 29, Putin signed a decree on the destruction of sanctions products on the Russian border. According to the document, from August 6, all products from the countries that the Russian food embargo are applied to. An exception, the decree says, is only "goods imported by individuals for personal use, or placed under the customs procedure of customs transit and transported to third countries."
