Pond of Depression

The owner of the Instagram account Sadtopographies posts screenshots of maps showing the saddest place names, like Depreciation Pond in Dover, New York, or Grumpy Dog Rd in Libby, Montana.

Blog owner Damien Rudd told Mashable that he has always had an interest in place names. He noted that although "depressing" names may seem funny today, their origins often hide sad and tragic stories, often not preserved to this day.

Rudd has already managed to find more than three dozen suitable titles, and his account has over ten thousand subscribers.
