More than 200 civilian activists arranged a march of protest in the center of Minsk against the falsification of the presidential election held in Belarus on Sunday. Among the protesters are the coordinator of the Civil campaign "European Belarus" Maxim Vinyarsky, film director Olga Nikolaychik, leader of the Coordinating Council of Minsk entrepreneurs Alexander Makaev.

Protesters walked from Oktyabrskaya Square to independence along the sidewalks, without violating the rules of the road. They carried flags and stretch marks and chanted slogans, including “Life Belarus!”, “Baikot!”, “Lukashenka, Saw!”, “Radzim! Svaboda! Dala Luka-Uroda!”.

Lukashenko, heading Belarus since 1994, has already advanced for the fifth consecutive presidential term. All leading opposition forces called on their supporters to boycott the elections on October 11. Competition of the current head of state was imitated by the candidates controlled by him.

Even before the election day, activists noted numerous falsifications during the everywhere practiced early votes. During the Saturday rally, opposition leaders did not urge their supporters to go outside after the elections. “We don’t plan anything for tomorrow,” explained the former political prisoner, presidential candidate in the 2010 election Nikolai Statkevich. “Candidates do not plan to go? Why go?”

Statkevich approved the Sunday action as a "moral step" and "an event that will not be superfluous."
