About 82 percent of voters participated in the vote in the presidential election . According to preliminary data, ahead of Alexander Lukashenko, he has 84 percent of the vote, the Institute of Comparative Social Research "Eurasian Barometer" reports. On the eve of oppositional citizens - according to various sources, from one to five thousand people - held in Minsk an action "for free fair elections". They called for voters to boycott the presidential elections, since, in their opinion, their results are predetermined.

Alexander Lukashenko, heading Belarus since 1994, has become president for the fifth time. In 2010, after the presidential election, riot police brutally suppressed the demonstration of the opposition.
