Three out of ten homeowners in Greece will not be able to pay real estate taxes in 2015. At the same time, 40.5% of the tenants are late with payments for rental housing. Such data are made public in the Marc study presented at the Prodexpo conference in Athens.
The survey was conducted from September 29 to October 1, 2015 in 805 households of Greece. It turned out that every third mortgage borrower has difficulty paying a loan, despite the fact that 41% of respondents stated that they managed to reorganize payments so that monthly expenses were less, Prian.ru reports.
The Greeks who participated in the survey believe that in the future the reserve of housing in the market will be four times higher than demand, and only 4.5% of the respondents consider the purchase of a house or apartment in the next three years. As many as 19% claim that they plan to sell real estate in the next three years. Nine years ago, in 2006, the situation was diametrically opposite. Then 22.6% of respondents were going to buy housing, and only 12.3% were going to sell it.
About 50% of respondents believe that real estate prices are likely to drop even more in the next two to three years. And 31% of respondents believe in the stability of the cost of housing.
At the same time, the decline in apartments in Greece went deeper this year.
