The Maykop garrison court sentenced five contractors at the Kadamovsky training ground in the Rostov Region for ten months to one and a half years in prison for unauthorized abandonment of the part (Article 337 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the DonDay publication with reference to lawyer Tatyana Chernetskaya.
"We are talking not only about five of my clients. Dozens of military personnel are fleeing the landfill, and now their criminal cases are considered one after another in the Maykop garrison court. About 30 people have been convicted in the first half of 2015," the lawyer said.
Contractors themselves claimed that they left the landfill due to unbearable conditions of detention and constant agitation to go volunteers to the Donbass. The 21-year-old Ivan Shevkunov, sentenced to one year in a colony-settlement, said that the recruiters moved completely freely. “It was said that sooner or later we would still find ourselves on the territory of a neighboring state. The officers and the command of the landfill closed their eyes,” he said. Shevkunov simply did not accept reports on dismissal.
The refusal to sign reports on dismissal was announced by 35-year-old Alexander Evenko. He also decided to leave the Kadamovsky training ground. The court sentenced Eunko to one year of the colony.
In July, the initiation of numerous cases against contractors from the Maykop intelligence brigade who served at the Kadamovsky training ground reported Gazeta.ru. According to the official statistics of the Maykop garrison court, in the first six months of 2015, under Article 337 of the Criminal Code, 62 military personnel were convicted - this is almost twice as much as in the previous five years.
In the video secretly taken by relatives of contractors, the acting commander of the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Kens, states that about 80 people refused to fight in Ukraine, and calls the shoots from the landfill "disgrace".
At least one of the refuseniks - Sergeant Pavel Tyntchenko - at the court on the choice of a preventive measure announced ideological motives. “I did not follow a criminal order, because I did not want to go against the oath that I accepted and did not want to participate in the hostilities in Ukraine,” said the sergeant published in Gazeta.ru.
The Ministry of Defense denied information about the mass criminal prosecution of Maykop contractors. The department said that the investigative actions under the article “Samoving Leaving the military unit” are carried out only in relation to four military personnel: Shevkunov, Enenko, Tyntchenko, as well as Anatoly Kudrin. All of them were mentioned in the publication of Gazeta.ru. The command of the Southern Military District claims that these four "systematically for a long time made disciplinary offenses related to the service."
