The Almaz-Antey concern, which produces Buk missile systems, presented the results of the “Full-scale field experiment”. According to the general director of the concern, Yana Novikov, the experiment is the “logical conclusion” of the report that was prepared in the spring. Experts blew up the anti-aircraft guided missile 9M38M1 near the IL-86 fuselage, proportionate Boeing.
Recall the main conclusions of the first report of the Almaz-Antei concern:
Separatists claim that on July 17, 2014, Ukraine was controlled by Ukraine. However, according to the testimony of local residents, with whom the special corner of the “new” Pavel Kanygin met , Zarashchenskoye at that moment was in the territory controlled by the fighters of the “DPR”. True, they did not see any equipment there and did not hear shots. In the snowy, on the contrary, there were many witnesses of the tragedy.
Independent experts doubted (in particular, on the pages of the "new") in the correctness of the conclusions of the concern, excluding the possibility of launching a rocket from the Snezhny district. Then Almaz-Antei undertook to conduct a “native experiment”.
“We are a commercial company, and the decision to conduct these experiments and press conferences is directly related to the sanctions of the European Union against Almaz-Antei,” Novikov admitted. - We consider them unfair.
Recall: the European Union imposed sanctions on Almaz-Antey, because the company is controlled by the state, produces artillery and "helps to destabilize the situation in Ukraine."
Almaz-Antey conducted two experiments. The first took place on July 31, 2015. The fighting part of the indicated rocket (without a case) was undermined near two blocks of metal sheets that mimic the fuselage and the left engine. The shell was installed as if it were released from Zarashchensky. According to Novikov, in early August, the data received were transferred to the International Commission for the Catastrophe Investigation.
“However, according to our information, the data was not taken into account by the commission,” Novikov said. - Then we decided to conduct a second, full -size experiment. Due to the lack of written off Boeing-777, we took part of the IL-86 building in size.
The second experiment was held on October 7. This time, experts used the entire missile (combat part and corps) and worked from the “opposite”, placing a shell in a position as if it flew from the Snezhny district. The characteristics of the rocket corresponded to its condition at the 40th second of the flight.
Since the scattering of the missile fragments in statics and dynamics is significantly different, compensatory amendments were selected using the “supercomputer” (the computer tried more than 14 million options).
Yan Novikov and adviser to the general designer Mikhail Malyshevsky believe that the experiment has denied a version with a snowmate. The explosion caused the fuselage damage that do not coincide with damage to the Boeing.
From the presentation "Almaz-Antei" . The document consists of 77 slides
For example, not a single fragment got into the left engine. Meanwhile, according to the results of computer modeling, when starting from Zarashchensky, at least 22 fragments fall into it. (And in general, in this case, the convergence of the modeling results with real Boeing injuries, according to Almaz-Antei, is more than 90%.)
The elements of the rocket body made of duralumin alloys, according to Mikhail Malyshevsky, could not break through several elements of the engine through and through. This version was put forward by an independent expert Mark Solonin. In addition, the fragments of the rocket body shown to journalists, formed after a field experiment, significantly exceed the size of the hole in the Boeing engine.
Representatives of the concern also indicated that the right side from the rocket in the area of the pilot’s cabin as a result of the experiment was sewn through. On the Boeing, the right side of the cab is celest.
Finally, on the undermined fuselage, many holes were discovered from the “I -Taurus” - the striking elements of a heavy fraction. They resemble butterflies in shape. According to Yana Novikov, earlier the International Commission from among material evidence provided Almaz-Anteus three “I-Stewari”. Therefore, the concern concluded that the plane was shot down by a 9M38M1 rocket. This conclusion entered the first report. However, in the fragments of Boeing, the experts of Almaz-Antei, who visited Holland, did not find holes in the form of butterflies. According to Novikov, the presence of “I -beams” among material evidence remains “an incomprehensible issue”. Therefore, Almaz-Antey adjusted the type of rocket: now in the concern they are sure that it was a 9M38 ZUR with combat part 9N314, without “I-Taurus”.
“In front of the front, almost the same form of covering with fragments,” Malyshevsky summed up, showing a video of computer modeling of launches from different points. - But only the launch from Zarashchensky explains damage to the left engine and the power elements of the fuselage, the frames.
About 10 million rubles were spent on experiments.

Yan Novikov repeated several times that the concern’s motivation is commercial: to relieve his sanctions. In the spring, the company filed a lawsuit in the European Court in Luxembourg.
- The last 9M38 missile was released in 1986. Its use was prohibited by the order of the general designer after 25 years, in 2011, for security reasons. The missile was removed from the armament, ”Novikov explained.
To the question of the Novaya Gazeta whether the report and the results of the experiment were transferred to the Investigative Committee of Russia, which still adheres to the version of the Air-Air missile, Novikov answered negatively: “But if the Investigative Committee requests, we will certainly imagine.”
We also asked representatives of the concern, can the old 9M38 missile be used as part of the intermediate modification “Buk”-“Buk” M1-2, which is in service with Russia? (According to the “new” information, it was such an attitude to snow from Russia.) However, Novikov objected that the question is not at all, but that the rocket is prohibited for use and it is difficult for him to imagine who it might occur to it.
