The aggravation of the situation in Israel began on the Jewish New Year (Rosh Ha-Shana). On the eve of the holiday in the area of the temple mountain, a sacred place for both Muslims and Jews, the Israeli police repeatedly entered into clashes with the Palestinians who threw stones at law enforcement officials; Access to Muslim shrines on the mountain was temporarily limited. On September 14, on the second day of Rosh Ha-Shan, 64-year-old Alexander Levilovitz, returning from a festive dinner, died in a car accident-his car was thrown with stones, after which it crashed into a pole.
The attacks of the Palestinians on Israeli police and ordinary citizens in Israel took place earlier. Moreover, the new intifada in the Israeli media has been talking since the beginning of 2015 and return to this formulation after each new series of attacks. However, since mid -September, these attacks have become almost daily, and the number of dead began to grow.
Israeli border guards recent months regularly reported the attacks of the Palestinians. Basically, the attackers were armed with knives, among them were women. One of these episodes, when the border guards in Hebron on September 22 shot an 18-year-old Palestinian, caused indignation among the Arabs-according to eyewitnesses, the girl did not pose a threat to soldiers. In the IDF, it was claimed that it was armed with a knife, and published a picture of weapons.
In total, 8 people have died as a result of attacks on Jews since mid -September. In addition to the incident on September 14, several more fatal attacks occurred: on October 1, two Israelis were shot along the way to their house on the west coast; On October 3, the Palestinian in the old city of Jerusalem killed two Israelis with a knife, and also wounded his mother and child, and was shot dead by the police; On October 13, two people were killed and more than 20 were injured as a result of an attack by two armed with cold weapons and a Palestinians pistol on a bus in Eastern Jerusalem; On the same day, another resident of Jerusalem died after the Palestinian crashed into a bus stop by car, and then rushed at the people with a knife.
The number of attacks is growing every day. In October 12 alone, four incidents occurred in Jerusalem, as a result of which five random passers -by suffered. Three attackers were shot by the police, two more, including a 16-year-old girl, were wounded and detained. In most cases, the attackers were Palestinian teenagers. On October 13, five such attacks occurred, including the murder of three people on the bus.
Al-Dzhazira reports 29 dead Palestinians and almost two thousand wounded in clashes with the Israeli police. These data include incidents throughout Israel from the moment of the aggravation of the situation and take into account 12 Palestinians who were killed during attacks on Jews. Among the dead there are also participants in the anti -Israeli protests (only on October 9, the Israeli military shot seven people on the border with gas) and those who died as a result of the response of Israel on the positions of Hamas in the gas sector.
The Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu called the series of attacks "Wave Terror." According to him, there is no quick solution to the problem.
