Abyzov denied government plans to reduce ministries

The Minister of Work with the Open Government Mikhail Abyzov denied plans to reduce several ministries, Interfax reports.

“Information on the preparation and consideration of proposals for the reduction of federal ministries is not true. There were no such instructions from the President and the Prime Minister, and the corresponding work was not underway, ”he said.

Abyzov emphasized that on behalf of President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, proposals “On possible principles are being prepared, on the basis of which, inter alia, the consolidation options for some of the control and supervision departments will be considered.”

“After the approval of these principles, work will continue on specific proposals regarding the structure of the departments themselves,” the minister added.

At the same time, the RIA Novosti source assured that Putin instructed to analyze the effectiveness of supervisory and control departments, emphasizing that this was not related to the reform of the Cabinet of Ministers.

RBC earlier on October 16, citing a government official and expert, wrote that the government is considering the option of administrative reform involving the abolition of six ministries and 11 federal agencies, as well as the creation of nine departments. It was clarified that the draft reform was sent to Abyzov.

According to the publication, nine new supervisory authorities will have to be subject to directly to the government. Such optimization, stated, should save 4.5 billion rubles.
