Ten years ago, on October 18, 2005, at the age of 81, Alexander Nikolayevich Yakovlev, the main ideologist of Gorbachev's perestroika, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU and chairman of the Commission under the President of Russia for the rehabilitation of victims of political repression, died.

Back in November 1972, he published an article "Against antihistoricism" in Literaturnaya Gazeta, in which, from a Marxist standpoint, he criticized the patriots of the soil for the theses about the "heavy cross of national self-consciousness", about the "mystery of the people, their silent wisdom" and "the call of natural integrity." This article was the reason for the disgrace of Yakovlev, who was moved from the apparatus of the Central Committee of the CPSU to the post of ambassador to Canada.
