On Sunday, however, Al Arabiya reported that the Pentagon official confirmed the death of Sanafi, and noted that the Islamist was killed on Thursday as a result of a coalition raid. The official added that Sanafi was engaged in the development of routes along which new Mujahideen from Pakistan arrived in Syria through Turkey, and also played a significant role in financing the group.

The real name of the terrorist was Abdul Mukhsin Abdallah Ibrahim al-Sarich.
