The brother of politician Alexei Navalny, Oleg, who is now in Oryol correctional colony No. 5, is being transferred to strict conditions of detention. Alexey Navalny writes about this on his blog.
“Even the lawyer is not yet given the documents on which he was sent to the punishment cell and transferred to the SUS. Like, “they’re in a punishment cell.” You might think that these are on the moon and no one can present them to a lawyer, as is required. It is clear why they are doing this - to delay the appeal. I regard what is happening as a mockery of Oleg, aimed at putting pressure on our family and me personally, in order to impede my activities and investigations in particular,” writes Alexey Navalny.
The press service of the regional FSIN was unavailable for comment.
This week it became known that Oleg Navalny received 15 days in a punishment cell. The head of the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Oryol Region, Anzhelika Gavrilovskaya, told Mediazona that he was placed in a punishment cell for “a malicious violation - storage and use of prohibited items.” She refused to specify what items were in question.
Strict conditions of detention (SUS) are intended for persistent violators of the regime; they can be transferred there by order of the head of the colony for numerous violations of the regime of detention.
