Ukraine filed the first claim to Russia to the WTO

Ukraine filed in the WTO first of the series of planned claims against Russia. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the Deputy Minister of Economic and Trade of Ukraine Natalia Nikolskaya.

The lawsuit, the official explained, concerns the restrictions that Russia since 2013, canceling the relevant certificates, unreasonably introduced Ukrainian -made wagons and turnouts. If in 2013 the volume of exports of these goods from Ukraine amounted to 1.7 billion dollars, then for seven months of this year - only 51 million.

Ukraine repeatedly tried to allow this dispute at the level of the WTO committees, Nikolskaya added, but this did not give a result. The official added that now Kyiv expects to resolve the dispute at the consultation stage within 30 days.

In early May, Russia filed a lawsuit against Ukraine and the European Union due to anti-dumping measures against Russian welded pipes and ammonium nitrate. In January, the European Commission canceled anti -dumping duties on the import of a number of types of welded pipes from Ukraine and introduced final duties for exporters of these products from Russia, Belarus and China. In July 2014, Ukraine increased anti-dumping duties on the ammonium nitrate from Russia more than three times.

In October last year, Kiev turned to the WTO due to the ban on deliveries to Russia and transit through it of Ukrainian plant products. The State Veterinary and Phytosanitarian Service of Ukraine stated that Russia violated the provisions of a bilateral agreement and international standards of phytosanitary measures, since Moscow’s official appeals did not receive the inconsistency of products of phytosanitary requirements.
