
The punishment of Russia in connection with the failure to fulfill the decision of the ECHR in the Yukos case has not yet been going on. This was stated by the Director of the General Directorate for Human Rights and the Supreme of the Rights of the Council of Europe, Philip Buay, Interfax reports.
"Regarding the procedure excited by the results of the violation of the Convention, I would like to emphasize that the application of this procedure is not talking about. I hope for a constructive dialogue with Russia by the corresponding decision of the ECHR," Buay said.
In turn, the Russian Minister of Justice Alexander Konovalov said that in general, Russia is fulfilling the solutions of the ECHR. “We have much more in common than disagreements that the overwhelming part of Russia's decisions are being fulfilled,” the minister said.
Nevertheless, according to Konovalov, the Ministry of Justice initiates an appeal to the Constitutional Court to clarify the decision of the ECHR in the Yukos case, since he considers it contradicting Russian precedent practice.
