Dollar 62.79

The ruble strengthened slightly against the euro, but weakened against the American currency. The official dollar exchange rate has increased by 55 kopecks over the last five trading days to 62.79 rubles/$. So the value of dollar savings in ruble equivalent has increased by 0.8%.

EUR 71.09

The euro fell slightly - by 19 kopecks to 71.09 rubles. As a result, the ruble value of assets denominated in euros fell by only 0.3%.

But since the beginning of 2015, the current dollar exchange rate has increased by 11.6%, and the euro by 4%.

Stocks and bonds

The Russian ruble stock market manages to stay above the 1,700-point mark on the MICEX index. However, over the last five trading sessions on the MICEX-RTS exchange, it has fallen by 1%. Yesterday, trading on the exchange closed at 1,712.1 points.

At the same time, exactly half of the most liquid ruble shares increased in price.

The yield on ruble government bonds is 6.45–12.08% per annum, and on corporate bonds – 10.6–15.7%.

Over the period from October 15 to 21, exactly one third of open-end mutual funds saw their units fall in value. Among them were some mutual funds investing in precious metals, primarily gold. Their shareholders' investments decreased by 1.6-2% over the week. Investments in funds tracking the dynamics of the MICEX index resulted in a loss of 0.5%. And the leaders in the growth of unit value this time were funds of shares of electric power companies. The funds invested in them increased by an average of 3-4.4%.

Deposits

Large retail banks continue to reduce the yield on foreign currency deposits. This time, the leader of retail banking, Sberbank, reduced interest rates on retail deposits in dollars by 0.2–0.5% per annum, and in euros by 0.3–0.5%. And yesterday, Binbank reduced rates on basic foreign currency deposits by 0.3 percentage points. Banks left ruble rates unchanged.

The average maximum rate for 10 banks with the largest volume of ruble deposits from individuals (calculated by the Central Bank) did not change in the second ten days of December, remaining at 10.35%.

Gold

The world price of a troy ounce of gold fell by 1.6% to $1,167, and silver by 1.6% to $15.86. At the same time, platinum rose by 0.7% to $1,009 per ounce.
