The deal with Aeroflot to purchase 75% + 1 share of Transaero fell through due to the fact that the purchasing company did not receive permission from the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), the former CEO of Transaero wrote on Monday, October 26, on Twitter. Olga Pleshakova.

“We did everything we could to prevent people from getting hurt, and collected a package of 72% of shares, some of which were pledged to one state bank, and another state bank planned to provide the missing 3% for the deal, as he announced at the meeting on September 1.” , - said Pleshakova.

According to her, both state banks initiated the deal. “At the same time, the potential buyer did not receive permission from the FAS. Unfortunately, after October 1, there was no soft consolidation,” the former CEO wrote.

She expressed hope that the new “very professional and experienced” owner of the controlling stake in Transaero and the banking club “will be able to find a way to restore the airline’s operating activities.”

Transaero found itself on the verge of bankruptcy after Aeroflot refused to purchase 75% plus 1 share of the carrier for a symbolic 1 ruble in early October. The deal was supposed to save Transaero from bankruptcy, but the airline’s shareholders did not manage to consolidate the necessary package within the established time frame, Aeroflot reported. After the deal failed, the head of the Ministry of Economic Development, Alexey Ulyukaev, admitted that the bankruptcy of Transaero was “the only possible option” for resolving the current situation.

On October 20, it became known that co-owner of S7 airline (Siberia) Vladislav Filev entered into an agreement with the largest shareholder of Transaero, Alexander Pleshakov, to purchase a 51% stake in the airline. The next day, the Ministry of Transport announced that an order had been signed to cancel Transaero’s operator certificate from October 26. Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov told the Vedomosti newspaper that the decision to cancel Transaero’s certificate cannot be reversed, but it is possible to obtain a new certificate if there is a financial justification.

On October 26, Transaero stopped flying. On the same day, the airline notified of its intention to apply to the arbitration court to declare itself bankrupt. FAS, in turn, requested information from S7 about the transaction to purchase Transaero shares.
