The Police of the Amur Region is investigating seven criminal cases related to theft during the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome, the damage from which exceeded one and a half billion rubles. This was reported in the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The department noted that 620 million rubles from this amount according to the investigation were stolen only by the former general director of one of the enterprises who laid the railway tracks and roads to the cosmodrome. In September, he was detained in Krasnoyarsk. In October, the Russian authorities were issued in Minsk by the general director of another company who worked as a contractor in the construction of East. In total, five people are defendants in cases of embezzlement .

The construction of the cosmodrome was accompanied by a series of scandals associated with non -payment of the salary of workers. They several times declared a hunger strike in protest against the actions of employers, and also turned to the president. In this regard, several criminal cases were instituted.

The construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome near the village of Uglegorsk in the Amur Region was planned to be completed by November 30 this year . Its cost is estimated at 300 billion rubles. Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the launch of the cosmodrome is transferred to 2016.
