Leader of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people arrested in absentia

The Kiev People's Court of Simferopol arrested in absentia the chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov, who is accused of calling for the violation of the territorial integrity of Russia (under Article 280.1 of the Criminal Code). this on Chubarov announced October 28 on his Facebook page.

According to Chubarov, the court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention for two months from the date of his extradition to Russia.

“It is needless to say that I was not informed not only about the date and place of the court session, but also about the nature of the charges against me. Moreover, no one introduced me to the materials of the ‘investigation’,” writes Chubarov.

The criminal case was initiated against Refat Chubarov in May 2015.
