Ex-Russian national team coach Fabio Capello may head the American club

The former head coach of the Russian national football team, Italian Fabio Capello, can head the MLS football club (Top Division of the US and Canadian Championship) New York City, reports Goal.com.

It is reported that Capello has already held talks with City management and will lead the team before the start of the 2016 season. New York City is considering Capello as a replacement for current coach Jason Kreis, who failed to lead the team to the playoffs in his debut season, but two other MLS clubs are vying for Capello. Such famous football players as Englishman Frank Lampard, Italian Andrea Pirlo and Spaniard David Villa play for New York City.

Capello led the Russian national team for almost three years - the contract between him and the RFU was signed on July 26, 2012. Under the leadership of the Italian specialist, the Russian team reached the final part of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where they did not make it past the group stage. In July of this year, the RFU terminated the contract with Capello by mutual agreement of the parties. The contract with the Italian specialist was valid until the end of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
