"Kogalymavia" awaits unscheduled checks

Kogalymavia, which owns a plane in Egypt with 224 Russians, is awaiting an unscheduled check. This was stated at a briefing by the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Maxim Sokolov. Later on Saturday, Rostransnadzor announced the start of the audit on his line - for compliance with flight safety rules.

“An official unscheduled audit of the company’s activities will be carried out through the Rosnasnadzor line, and through the Federal Air Transport Agency, the Interstate Aviation Committee, and along the line of, of course, competent services. The company’s future will depend on the conclusions that will be made during the investigation,” TASS Sokolova quotes.

The company was founded in 1993. Then it was called Kolavia ("Kogalymavia") and made flights from Kogalym, Surgut and Nizhnevartovsk to Moscow. The company’s air park consisted of two aircraft-the Tu-134 and Tu-154. Since 2012, Kogalymavia has been working under the Metrojet brand. This was done after the company refused to use the Tu-134 and Tu-154, having purchased Airbus aircraft. In total, there are 10 aircraft in the company’s air park: two Airbus A320 and seven A321, one Canadair Challenger 850. The average age of aircraft is 14 years, Meduza reports.

The crashed side was the most age -related in the Metrojet air park, the Fontanka notes. He made his first flight on May 9, 1997. At first he flew to the Livanese airline Mea, in 2003 he moved to the Turkish Onur Air park, in 2007 he replenished the Saudi Arabia Airlines air park, and returned to Onur Air in 2008. In Russia, this board began to fly in April 2012.

Kogalymavia already had disputes with the Federal Air Transport Agency regarding the safety of transportation. According to the materials of the arbitration court, in 2013 Kogalymavia received three Airbus A321 (the board that crashed in Egypt is not among them). The carrier applied for their certification, however, the Federal Air Transport Agency demanded that additional sensors of the aircraft indication system indicate. The company did this, but then filed a lawsuit in the arbitration court, considering the demand for the supervisory authority illegal.

In the same year, the A320 aircraft, which made a flight from Moscow to Hurghada, was emergency in Domodedovo, another popular Egyptian resort.

In 2011, a fatal incident occurred: Tu-154, which executed the Surgut-Moscow flight, burned down at Surgut Airport. Three people were killed, about 40 were injured.
