November 3 at 19:00 - Discussion “Holiday as a Day of“ National Unity ”: what unites us and disconnects us on a red day of the calendar?”
(Together with the New Literary Review Publishing House; to the anniversary of the magazine "Unaccounted Reserve")

This year, the “inviolable stock” celebrates its anniversary: ​​at the same time its hundredth and one hundred and the first numbers came out. The dual release has become festive in every sense: its topic is the state holidays of the era of modern (the period from the last third of the XIX century to the present day). It refers to solemn rituals and rituals from a wide variety of points of view, their political, social and even musical aspects are considered, but first of all, the authors reflect on how holidays unite people and at the same time give rise to various kinds of conflicts.

In the international memorial on the eve of the Day of National Unity, a discussion will be held directly related to the theme of the number. Participants: Chief editor of the NFO publishing house Irina Prokhorova, NZ editors Ilya Kalinin and Kirill Kobrin, as well as the authors of the magazine: sociologist Alexei Levinson, political analyst Alexei Makarkin and musicologist Fedor Sofronov.

Questions for discussion:

• How did the establishment of new national state holidays become another way by which the era of modernity affirmed its rational dominance over time and its perception?
• How did the holiday become one of the ways of establishing a nation? And how did the empires use its symbolic and affective potential to maintain the existing multinational status quo?
• How do holidays create the boundaries of the community, while combining and disconnecting people?
• How do holidays write and rewrite history?
• How can a public holiday, born along with the era of Art Nouveau, become a factor in demodernization?

The international memorial continues the cycle of expert lectures and discussions according to the current state, problems and prospects for the development of the Russian state and society "in which country we live." Expert discussions will be held once a month on a wide range of problems with the participation of leading experts, journalists, politicians.

A meeting with the director of the animator, artist and teacher Sergei Merinov, the author of many cartoons from the Mountain of Semlodes and Plasticine ABC, animated clips for the songs of “Delnipers” and “Sasha along the highway” and many other works.

Charitable breakfasts help to pay for travel, buying food and educational materials for children from Syria, Afghanistan, African countries, Central Asia, the Chechen Republic, which visit the Civil Promotion Center. In the center, volunteer students are engaged in children who either do not go to school (and there are more and more like now), or are very far behind the school curriculum, because they do not speak Russian and missed several years of study.

Until November 20, on working days from 11:00 to 18:00, the exhibition continues to work “From Censorship and Samizdat to Freedom of Press. USSR, 1917-1990 "

The exhibition is dedicated to those who in the post -Stalin era decided to be free in a non -free country. The vast majority of the characters in the exhibition paid for the creation and distribution of unquestioned texts for years of prisons, camps, psychiatric hospitals, exile. For some to be free - it was worth life.

The era of the "classic samizdat" lasted about 30 years. In the second half of the 1980s, he was replaced by the samizdat of the era of perestroika, a mass phenomenon, which covered all segments of the population, the regions of the country. The seventy-year kingdom of censorship in the USSR ended in the summer of 1990, when it was legally canceled.
