The Ministry of Agriculture proposed a draft government resolution limiting the purchase of imported products by state and municipal customers, RBC reported on Monday, November 2, with reference to the relevant document obtained by the publication.

The authenticity of the document was confirmed by the department.

The draft contains the ministry’s proposal to reject applications for a tender from import suppliers if, in addition to them, at least two applications were submitted, where the country of origin of the products is Russia and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The union also includes Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

The list of food products, the import of which they want to limit, contains 23 items, including meat products (beef, veal, pork, poultry, offal), dairy products (powdered and condensed milk and cream, butter, cottage cheese, cheeses), fish (processed and canned fish, fish products), as well as rice, salt, sugar.

According to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Alexander Tkachev, setting restrictions on such purchases will increase the sales market for domestic products. The draft resolution has not yet been submitted to the government. Now it is being finalized jointly with the Ministry of Economic Development and the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), RBC clarifies.

Currently, several government regulations have been introduced in Russia that limit government purchases of imported goods in the field of medicine, light industry, and automotive industry. Previously, it was also proposed to limit government purchases of imported software in the presence of a Russian analogue.

The Ministry of Agriculture decided to limit government purchases of imported products
