“To be honest, I didn’t expect any special reaction from Putin to the deaths of dozens of passengers on the plane, most of whom, by the way, were his fellow countrymen. And I don’t understand why anyone was counting so much on this reaction.

And why do you need it? What incredible words did you want to hear? Condolences, assurances? I don’t remember Putin regularly making appeals on such occasions. Firstly, he does not like it when his name and his face appear against the background of tragedies, defeats and simply failures. For such cases, ministers, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Prime Minister Medvedev, and someone else will come in handy. And Putin will catch tigers, lift amphorae or play hockey. And secondly, people of his type generally do not know how to behave in such moments. This is not even some kind of negative quality, but simply a character trait.”
