The project of the opera theater-studio of the Moscow Conservatory has been approved

The Moscow Architectural Council supported the project of the opera studio theater in the Middle Kislovsky Lane at the Moscow Conservatory, developed by the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Central Scientific and Reservations of Design Workshops” and LLC Archstructure.

According to the portal of the Architect , the opera Theater Studio was designed as part of the reconstruction and restoration with partial new construction and adaptation of a complex of buildings of the Moscow Conservatory. The site on which the new facility is located is included in the combined security zone, the construction of which can only be carried out in the regime of regeneration of the historical environment.

The project provides for the preservation and restoration of one of the historical houses located on the site, but the main components of the complex - in particular, the opera hall with 500 seats, the transformable scene and the orchestra pit for 85 musicians - will be underground. The new building will also be accommodated by the administration, a vocal studio, two large rehearsal halls, tools for repairing tools and other auxiliary premises.

The premises requiring daylight will be located in the ground part of the complex, increased due to superstructure from matte glass. Behind the glass facade, there is a LED matrix that translates images of opera plots. The main entrance will be organized through a glass atrium, the levels of which will be tied by a front staircase and an elevator. The complex includes an underground parking for 70 seats.

According to the rector of the architectural school, the march of Evgeny Assa, the building of the opera studio theater does not fit into the surrounding development.

“A very difficult project, a very difficult situation. In many ways, the authors coped with the task, but I do not leave the feeling that this building lives its own life, without relations with the surrounding buildings. This whole yard becomes the lobby of this theater. Starting from the moment of entering, how to find this opera theater? We will not see him from Kislovsky Lane, we will see the gateway. This whole composition of the theater performance is not completely expanded here. There is no integration into urban fabric, ”the Moscow Agency quotes Assa.
