The cause of the explosion, according to preliminary information, was a cylinder with gas Freon. "The emergency occurred in one of the premises of the Academy building located on Leninsky Prospekt. A balloon of gas was exploded. As a result of the incident, one person died," the source said.

The press service of the metropolitan police confirmed the fact of the explosion without specifying the name of the organization. "One person died as a result of a rupture of a household gas cylinder during equipment maintenance work," the police said, noting that the operational investigative group is working at the site of the emergency.

The source of RIA Novosti in the emergency services of the capital said that the explosion occurred due to depressurization during the charging of the cylinder on the minus ninth floor of the RAS building. “There is information about one deceased and one victim,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

At the same time, a source of urban news to emergency services said that the explosion occurred on the minus eighth floor of the main building of the Russian Academy of Sciences. “According to preliminary data, in the garage on minus 8th floor there was a depressurization of the gas cylinder during its charging without subsequent fire. As a result, there are a victim. Doctors work with it. There are no destruction in the building,” the agency’s interlocutor explained.

The publication "Notepad" at the Ministry of Emergencies also stated that the incident occurred in the garage, which is on minus eight floor. The employee tried to season the gas cylinder, its depressurization occurred. “The call arrived at 13:28. At 13:52, employees arrived at the place. There was no destruction in the building, there was no fire behind the explosion,” the notebook told the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies in Moscow.

The deputy manager of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexei Antonov told Interfax that "a small -sized freon cylinder exploded on the equipment of the supercomputer center, at the address: Leninsky Prospekt, house 32a." “Previously, one person died, the equipment was not injured. According to Antonov, the supercomputer center is located in the basement of the building at the level of minus 8.5 meters from the ground level. The interlocutor of the agency added that at the moment there are no threats of people's lives, the building is not numb, but experts work at the site of the incident.
