She took the surname of her husband Yorrit Yost Faassen; Under this surname, Maria is mentioned in the database of scientific works of Moscow State University "Truth".

According to Dutch journalists, Maria is married to the Dutch Yorrit Jost Faassen. For some time they allegedly lived together in the Netherlands. Faissen, according to Kommersant, was an employee of Gazprombank and the director of Stroytransgaz. Until August 2015, he was also listed as an employee of the Consulting Company "MEF-AUDIT". Now Faissen is not mentioned in the list of employees of the company. In addition, his name appeared in the press in connection with the conflict that occurred between him and banker Matvey Urin on Rublevsky highway in Moscow.
