In Vallett (Malta), the EU summit - Africa on migration problems ended.

The European Union promised to invest a billion 800 thousand euros in the programs for eradicating the basic causes of migration from Africa , including poverty, armed conflicts, repressions of the authorities, lack of security. In response, African leaders promised to promote the return of labor migrants from Europe to their homeland.

Of the 800 thousand refugees who arrived this year in Europe, about 140 thousand are Africans.

Participants in the summit accepted a joint statement and an action plan.

At the final press conference, the head of the European Council Donald Tusk said:

Tus said that projects were agreed: to increase employment and facilitate the migration of labor within Africa; The number of scholarships and grants for students and scientists from African countries is doubled; Special programs for the development of the countries of the African horn were adopted (Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibuti and Somalia). As a pilot project, a joint European-African investigation team is created to combat the illegal export of people. Joint measures will also be taken to return - primarily voluntary - African labor migrants to their homeland: in particular, employees of African migration services are sent to Europe to assist in the determination and confirmation of citizenship of a part of illegal migrants.

Commenting on the actions of Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia and Sweden, which limited the entry of migrants, Tusk said that the Schengen zone was on the verge of collapse.

The EU leadership believes that Europe alone cannot cope with the influx of refugees, which has become the most massive since the Second World War.
