Oleg Navalny, sentenced to 3.5 years in prison in the Yves Rocher Case, received 17 penalties in the colony. Member of the Presidential Human Rights Council Andrei Babushkin wrote about this on November 15 in his blog after a visit to the colony. Under Navalny, he never received any promotion, although he worked as a colony librarian, systematized books and purchased more than a hundred new copies.
More than half of the penalties were imposed in October, when the head of the colony was on vacation, and, according to Babushkin, “young and daring deputies” remained in his place. 11 penalties were imposed because Navalny allegedly “refused duty” - as colony staff told Babushkin, he incorrectly reported on duty because he did not name the article under which he was convicted, as well as the beginning and end of his term, which did not comply with internal rules the routine of this colony. What became the reason for other penalties is not reported.
According to lawyer Kirill Polozov, who represents the interests of Oleg Navalny, his client was not familiarized with the internal regulations, and the penalties will be appealed in court, writes RBC.
Due to the large number of penalties, Navalny’s chances of parole are sharply reduced. In addition, he was transferred to more severe conditions of detention , which means a reduction in the number of long visits per year from four to one, and transfers from six to two, being in isolated (and in practice, according to Babushkin, locked) premises, ban on telephone conversations and work as a librarian.
