Yanukovych was initiated by the acceleration of Euromaidan

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, investigating the crimes related to Euromaidan, said that the then President Viktor Yanukovych made a decision on the dispersal of the protest campaign on November 30, 2013. This was reported by the 112 Ukraine channel.

According to the head of the special investigation department, Sergei Gorbatyuk, the president ordered the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vitaly Zakharchenko and the secretary of the National Security Council Andrei Klyuev to disperse the protesters. All three - Yanukovych, Zakharchenko and Klyuyev - are defendants in criminal proceedings.

What specific evidence that the order came from the president has the investigation - is not specified.

At the end of November 2013, shares of protest against the abandonment of the Ukrainian authorities from the Association with the European Union began in Kyiv. Their participants demanded, among other things, the resignation of the president. On the night of November 30, the protesters were dispersed by the Berkut fighters, many of the participants in the action were beaten. However, this only provoked the growth of protest moods, the rallies continued and eventually led to a change of power in the country.

Unofficial versions of the one who was the initiator of overclocking on November 30, diverge. It was assumed , in particular, that there could not be a specific instructions from Yanukovych, and his subordinates who wanted to please the president organized the operation. Yanukovych himself, after fleeing from the country, claimed that it was a provocation. According to him, the then head of his administration Sergey Levochkin could stand behind this.

In total, according to the prosecutor's office, more than two thousand crimes against Maidan activists are currently being investigated, more than 2.2 thousand people have the status of victims. 270 suspects were held accountable.

After the change of power in Ukraine to Yanukovych and his entourage, a number of criminal cases were instituted. Among other things, the former president was accused of involvement in the death of participants in the Euromaidan in early 2014.
