year 2013. The beginning of Euromaidan in Kyiv

Two years ago, on November 21, 2013, Euromaidan began - a mass protest in the center of Kyiv, caused by the refusal of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to sign an association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. This decision was made by the Ukrainian president under strong pressure from the Kremlin. The demonstrators also expressed outrage at the massive corruption and lawlessness perpetrated by all branches of government. Demonstrations on Maidan Nezalezhnosti led to the overthrow of Yanukovych on February 22, 2014. These events were called the "Revolution of Dignity".
