Among the proven dissertations of the current rectors of the university of Russia, 21 percent of the work turned out to be false. This was stated by one of the founders of Dissernet Andrei Rostovtsev at a meeting of one of the sections of the All -Russian Civil Forum, reported journalist Natalia Demina.

"Dissernet" checked the work of 311 rectors who have been defended over the past 15 years. In 66 dissertations, extensive borrowings were found. According to Rostovtsev, this indicates a negative selection for the position of rector.

The investigation data has long been transferred to the head of the Ministry of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov and to the highest certification commission, but university leaders convicted in plagiarism are still flourishing, Rostovtsev noted.

On Friday, the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Committee deprived the State Duma deputy from the United Russia party Richata Abubakirov degree of Doctor of Economics. The decision of the Presidium will be aimed at approval in the Ministry of Education and Science. “This is a precedent. Abubakirov defended his dissertation in 2009 in Tatarstan, at the Department of Economic Theory of KSTU named after Tupoleva, dozens of pages found completely copied from five other people's scientific papers. Dissernet experts found that in the text of the work "the institutional environment of the social sphere of the modern economy" out of 314 pages were only 43 original.

The free network community "Dissernet" unites scientists and journalists identifying plagiarism in the scientific work of famous people. Studies of Dissernet began in January 2013.
