The motley “Cornukopy”-the first album of the journalist and actor, who discovered the musical gift at 44, was an ambitious attempt to blow up the swamp of Russian pop music . It is difficult to say whether the idea was 100%successful, but there were plenty of noise then. The other day, Igor Grigoryev announced the release of the second album "Sophomor", work on which was several years; Judging by the first song, it will be radically different from the pretentious and eclectic “Cornacopius”. On it, inspired by the complex pop music of the 1980s and the trip-hop of the 1990s, the singer is looking for a darker angle:
The Dark Corner is the first track from the same mini-album (EP) .
Even when I composed the colorful “Cornukopius”, I thought about the next record, viscous, rainy, melancholy ... But, to be honest, I was not sure that the muse and inspiration would ever visit me again. After all, I am not a musician in a particular sense - I did not study music, she came to me for no reason, when I was already 44, and I was afraid that the whim that had fallen on me once would not happen again.
The next bifurcation strip began last fall. During the year, the four of us - Anna Nosacheva on the synthesizers, Anton Shokhirev on the drums, Vasily Sidenko on programming and I - recorded an album, which was called "SOFOROMOR".
Personally, in these times, I want to become invisible and observe how they will end.
Sophomora (Sophomore) is called second-party students at American universities. In general, this is something such a second in a row. What, in general, is the album "SOFOMOR" and is. It will be fully released in the spring of next year, and this November we release EP (mini-album), consisting of five tracks.
Coming up with SOFOROMOR, I was inspired by pop groups from the 1980s such as Blue Nile , Roxy Music , The Style Council and the classic viscous trip-hop of the 1990s. Still, as usual, I listened to a lot of Brazilian music, from which I have been drawing nectar for my soul for several years in a row for several years.
About the song “The Dark Corner” I have little to say, moreover, what is in the way about. By naivety, I would like to believe that my moods are not consonant with common. Personally, in these times, I want to become invisible and observe how they will end.
