Independent experts did not find calls for separatism in the words of the Karelian deputy

The authors of an independent psycho-linguistic examination did not find calls for separatism in the speech of the deputy of the Suojärvi urban settlement Vladimir Zavarkin at a rally for the resignation of the head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen. This was announced on November 23 to RAPSI by lawyer Dmitry Dinze, representing the interests of Zavarkin.

According to the authors of the examination, the text of the speech "is not capable of influencing the behavior of mentally healthy people, whose actions are regulated at the level of higher mental decision-making mechanisms, and induce anyone to take actions related to the separation of the Republic of Karelia from the Russian Federation."

The statement about the separation of Karelia, the authors of the study say, contains the condition of "stating the uselessness of Karelia as part of the Russian Federation in the form of an invitation, a proposal."

After speaking at a rally on May 20, 2015 in Petrozavodsk, 58-year-old Vladimir Zavarkin was charged with incitement to separatism (under Article 280.1 of the Criminal Code). On October 26, the trial of the case began.
