The program "Autism. Friendly environment "comes to museums

On December 2 at 19:30 in the Garage Educational Center, American specialists Syntenia Vandenbosh and Sofia Rossovsky will give a lecture on the adaptation of museums for people with autism and on creating special programs for them.

The lectures will be attended by guides and employees of Moscow museums, parents of children with autistic spectrum disorders (RAS) and specialists working with RAS, as well as representatives of the Moscow Culture Department.

Before the lecture begins, the introductory word will be said by the president of the Foundation “Exit” Avdotya Smirnov and Director Anton Belov.

Syntenia Vandenbosh by education is an anthropologist (its dissertation was dedicated to the indigenous peoples of the Far East of Russia after the collapse of the USSR), the president and founder of the company Turnstile Tours , one of the first commercial companies in New York, which in partnership with non-profit organizations is developing excursion programs for people with limited health capabilities. Cynthia Vandenbosh is also the co-chair of the consortium on the availability of the New York museums, which is engaged in the adaptation of museum spaces for people with features. In addition, she was the supervisor of the “Cultural Relations for People with Autism” project and conducted tolerance for museum employees.

Sofia Rossovsky graduated from the Moscow State Linguistic University, her first specialty is a medical translation. Since 2014, she has been working as the executive director of the Non-profit organization “Available Environment of New York”, and before that she has been engaged in training for the creation of an inclusive environment for many years. The main interest of Sofia Rossovsky lies in the field of professional orientation of people with disabilities, as well as working with personnel management departments in various institutions that hire employees with features.

Sofia Rossovski and Cynthia Vandenbosh come to Moscow at the invitation of the Foundation "Exit" as part of the Autism program. Friendly environment. " They will go from Moscow to St. Petersburg, where they will give a lecture to Hermitage employees.

The program "Autism. Friendly environment ”is implemented by the Foundation“ Exit ” with the participation of organizations created by parents of children with autism. The task of the program is to make public places accessible to people with autism and other mental characteristics.

During the existence of the program, the Fund held several adapted theatrical and film screenings for children with RAS, and now, on the initiative of the Pushkin Museum. Pushkin and Museum of Modern Art "Garage" launched the program on their sites.

In the “garage”, parents conducted training training for staff (ticket controllers, cashiers, security officers) specially developed by them with the support of specialists, in which they talked about the characteristics of children with races and taught them to respond correctly to them. Then, children from RAS from the inclusive schools of Moscow and adults (20–25 years old) from the Technical College 21 came to the Garage.
